What is Eclipse Facial Rejuvenation?

Eclipse Micropen® Elite Micro Needling and Eclipse PRP™ Platelet-Rich Plasma

Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy (ECIT) can stimulate the skin’s natural ability to heal itself. As a result, new collagen and elastin produce softer, firmer skin and can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars and textural issues. Typically, the skin has a nice glow immediately following an Eclipse MicroPen micro-needling session. Results can be observed in as early as 30 days.

What is automated Micro-Needling?

Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy or ECIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the improvement of the skin’s texture, tone and color. During this procedure, the Eclipse MicroPen® is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to aid in the production of collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker epidermis with a softer appearance of wrinkles. Eclipse MicroPen® Elite also creates micro-channels which allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively, enhancing the effects in deeper layers of the skin.

Eclipse MicroPen® Elite can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back. After treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. However downtime is minimal on average, patients experience redness for 2-4 days. Some patients heal completely in 24 hours.

Eclipse Micropen® Elite Advantages

Safety First
The Eclipse MicroPen® Elite is inherently safer than other products. It utilizes sterile single-use surgical grade disposable cartridge tips. The MicroPen® delivers greater efficiency and superior clinical results while maintaining the highest level of safety for the patient. It is also safe for most skin types, which means it is a great procedure for almost everyone!

Faster is Better
The rapid pen motion provides a more comfortable experience that patients describe as a mild sandpaper-like sensation.

Customized For You
Each patient has unique skin needs and requirements. The variable pen position feature allows Brandon Dermatology’s  MicroPen® professionals to customize a treatment for best results.

Long Term Results
Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment.

How the Eclipse Micropen® Elite Micro-Needling Process Works

A topical gel is applied to clean skin. This is a lubricating product that helps the MicroPen glide across your skin creating superficial micro-injuries designed to ultimately improve your skin condition upon re-epithelialization.

As the MicroPen is applied to the skin, hundreds of superficial micro-channels are created every few seconds. Epidermal Collagen Induction Therapy (ECIT) stimulates the skin’s natural ability to heal itself. As a result, new collagen and elastin produce softer, firmer skin and can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars and textural issues.

Eclipse PRP™ Platelet-Rich Plasma

Commonly referred to in the media as the Vampire Facial the treatment is actually a combination of micro-needling and the use of Platelet Rich Plasma. Our practice uses the Eclipse Micropen® Elite micro-needling with Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP from your blood. The PRP acts as a matrix that promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue and speeds up the skin’s repair process. In turn, the skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with softer wrinkles, less scarring and improved skin tone.

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP comes from, you’ve guess it…your own blood! Blood is composed mainly of red blood cells, white blood cells, Platelets and Plasma. PRP is a high concentration of platelets surrounded in its own plasma. A small amount of blood is drawn and the red cells are isolated from the platelet-rich plasma. Platelets in our blood are cells designed to heal injuries. In concentrated form the platelets can be used to help heal those injuries. For years, athletes, dentists and reconstructive surgeons have been injecting PRP into joints to help speed up the process of healing.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Explained

Platelets are cells in the blood that help tissue to heal, grow and are full of Growth Factors. The plasma portion of blood is a yellow liquid that is full of nutrients and proteins. Platelet Rich Plasma from the blood is used with the Eclipse Micropen® Elite micro-needling into specific areas of the skin. Acting as a matrix the PRP promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerates tissue and speeds up the skin’s repair process. The skin’s natural repair process results in a thicker dermis with softer wrinkles, less scarring and improved skin tone.

Platelet-rich Plasma releases at least eight essential growth factors and signaling proteins

Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)
Plays a significant role in the regulation of cell growth, proliferation and differentiation during the remodeling phase. Stimulates keratinocyte and fibroblast production.

Transforming Growth Factor (TGF)
Promotes angiogenesis which is the physiological process involving the growth of new blood vessels.

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF)
An important signaling protein involved in both vasculogenesis and angiogenesis that may help the growth of blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature.

Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF)
Promotes angiogenesis, granulation, and epithelialization for the intricate process of Tissue repairing itself after injury.

Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)
Attracts macrophages and fibroblasts to the zone of injury. Promotes collagen growth and proteoglycan synthesis.

Interleukins, Macrophages, Keratinocytes, Endothelial Cells, Lymphocytes, Fibroblasts, Osteoblasts, Basophils, Mast Cells
Activates fibroblast differentiation. Induces collagen and proteoglycan synthesis for healthy cell production and repair of damaged tissues.

Collagen Stimulating Growth Factor
Stimulates granulocyte and macrophage proliferation for the growth of healthy tissue and blood cells.

Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF)
Keratinocyte migration, differentiation, and proliferations may optimize conditions for healing and the generation of new skin.
